Short Term Goals:
- Scenic Byway designation for Highway 28 (underway)
- Implement Mountain Landscape Initiative Tool Box
- Cowee Trails (underway)
- Complete restoration of Post Office in West's Mill
- Create mass mailing to all Cowee Township residents inviting
them to participate in CCDO and provide help and support with
our goals. (completed, but ongoing) - Establish fund raising goals (ongoing)
- Get more young people involved in CCDO (ongoing)
- Get members of the community to volunteer at local schools
- Develop and provide welcome package for new residents
- Create events committee
- Provide after school activities for children
- Meet with property owners in the Historic District to seek their
support for ongoing preservation (Completed, but ongoing)
Long Term Goals:
- Work to establish better public access in Cowee to the Little
Tennessee River - Continue exploration of the acquisition of Cowee School
- Restoration of the Heart of the Historic District
- Historical Designation Signs/Property Plaques
- Work with Historical District Property Owners/Cleanup
- Establish Community Zoning
